By supporting Beacon at Christmas you will be playing a part in supporting vulnerable people with sight loss when they have never needed us more.
With the help of people like you we have already made in the region of 8,000 welfare calls this year to make sure no one was left feeling alone.
We’ll continue to put the needs of our members and the local community first as people are relying on us more than ever over the Christmas period.
We have been distributing care packs to our members during this latest lockdown and making sure those who need it have access to our welfare calls and telephone befriending services as well as our Talking News.
But we need your support more than ever to keep supporting people living with sight loss in your local communities.
Beacon has already lost £682,000 as a result of the pandemic and sadly we expect that figure to grow as many of our usual festive fundraisers are unable to take place this year.
Our Christmas lunches alone generate more than £7,000 to support people with sight loss.
Each donation really will make a difference for people with sight loss, £6 could support a 30 minute welfare call for one of our members.

A £3 donation could help pay for 15 minutes of low vision advice for someone struggling to adapt to life with sight loss. Just text BEACONXMAS to 70085 to donate £3. Texts cost £3 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £3 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text BEACONXMASNOINFO to 70085.
Hold your own Cringey Christmas jumper day
You don’t have to be in the office to host your own Cringey Christmas jumper day in aid of Beacon.
Just choose a date to best suit you and your colleagues or family and friends and each make a suggested donation of £1 which you can donate via our website here.
Help light up our virtual Christmas Tree
Sadly, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic our annual Forget-Me-Not service, where we light up our Christmas Tree in remembrance of those we’ve lost, cannot go ahead this year.
But we are determined to still honour those we miss.
Here’s how you can get involved this year:
- Dedicate a light on our traditional Christmas Tree which will keep the festive spirit going in our centre for our care team and people who live there when it is lit in remembrance on 17 December. To make a donation and dedicate a light call us on 01902 880 111 or email fundraising@beaconvision.org
- Help light up our beautiful virtual tree at www.visufund.com/forget-me-not-tree All you need to do is click donate, choose your decoration and make your dedication, you can even upload a photograph to go alongside your special message.
- Text donate to support someone with sight loss in memory of your loved one. To donate via text all you need to do is text FORGETMENOT followed by any whole amount you’d like to give up to £20 to 70085 e.g. FORGETMENOT3. Texts cost the amount you are donating e.g. £3 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about our work and fundraising via telephone and SMS.
