Beacon Centre has hit the bulls eye with a cash donation of £2000 from a darts league in Wolverhampton.

Wolverhampton Wednesday Night Ladies Darts League, which meets every Wednesday at different pubs, has been supporting Beacon ever since the league’s formation in 1954 and has raised a mega amount of money over the decades to support people living with sight loss.

The cheque was handed over to Beacon at the Wednesfield British Legion Club on Vicarage Road during a celebration event on Saturday 7 July. The evening also included a trophy ceremony which saw last season’s winners given their prizes. In addition, the league holds regular collection events to raise money and a prize for the team who raised the most money.

Arwyn Jones, CEO at Beacon Centre, added: “Without the generous support of organisations like this across the communities we support we would not be able to do the vital work we do. We are very grateful for the support and all the money raised and would like to thank everyone for their support and kind donations.”

Deborah Drohan, league treasurer, added: “Everyone had a great evening and we were delighted to hand over the cheque to Beacon. We all know the important work Beacon does and we are already looking forward to trying to smash this year’s total next time.”
