Low Vision Advice

Do you or someone you know have problems coping with low vision and want to find out more about how we can help?

Assessment and Advice

We understand how frightening and frustrating sight loss can be for not only the individual, but also for their family and friends. We offer a low vision assessment and advice service which enables us to give you the best possible advice on how to make the best use of the vision you have and how using some simple assistive equipment can help you live a safe and more independent life and manage your sight loss.

A Wide Range of Equipment

We also have access to a wide range of equipment, such as readers, scanners and video magnifiers where they may be appropriate. Demonstrations of these are available so to find out more please give us a call to arrange an appointment.

For further information regarding low vision and the equipment available:

Cannock

We also have a low vision shop in Cannock which is open every Tuesday and can be found inside the main Beacon charity shop which is in Market Place.

Stourbridge

There is also a low vision shop at our day centre in Stourbridge which is based at the rear of the Mary Stevens Hospice off Hagley Road in Oldswinford. Members of the public are welcome to call 01384 440 333 for more information.

Home Support

We now also have a team of community outreach workers who provide a range of support to adults in their own homes.

The community outreach team can give practical information, low vision advice, support, advice and signpost to a relevant service. We are able to provide information not only about sight loss but also about the many other issues surrounding it, such as welfare and housing benefits.

We also help people with buying and setting up equipment, reading, form filling and sorting mail, basic help that can have a major impact.
