The area’s leading sight loss charity the Beacon Centre has received a vital £1,000 donation thanks to the fundraising efforts of a building contractors firm.

The Harper Group, which has bases in Rowley Regis and Leominster, raised the money through a year-long programme of fundraising activities which included sponsored runs, office dress down days, bake-off’s, raffles and a Christmas jumper day.

More than 40 of the firm’s office based staff took part in the activities.

Harper Group’s Senior Administrator Jill Sidebottom said: “We like to get involved and help with the community but events such as this also gives our staff the opportunity to come together as a team. Everyone really gets involved and is happy to help with the fundraising.”

The Beacon Centre’s communications development manager Helen Brown added: “Donations such as this one from the Harper Group are vital in helping us to continue the work we do as a charity supporting people across the region with sight loss.

“We would like to thank all the staff at Harper Group for their fantastic effort in raising this cash, it really will make a difference to people across the area.”
