Heart of Beacon
You have helped us to survive, can you help us thrive?
Over the past 12 months, together you’ve raised £100,000 for Beacon helping us continue to support people with sight loss whilst facing the toughest time in our 146-year history.
From holding sponsored shaves to donations in memory of loved ones, every donation has made a difference. In a year that has been difficult for all of us, your generosity has really given us hope when we needed it most. Our Centre costs around £1.2 million to run each year but we have been hit hard by the pandemic, the closure of our shops alone has meant we lost £500,000 in much-needed income. But for those with sight loss who rely on us for support, the last 12 months has been devastating. Some report they have felt lonely for the first time in their lives, our telephone befriending service has grown by 393% over the past year.
We need your help more than ever.
Community has always been at the heart of Beacon, last year you helped us survive now we need you to help us thrive and rebuild so our members can continue to benefit from our services for years to come.
We also want to make sure you are part of our story so we are creating a mural that will display the names of everyone who makes a general donation throughout the rest of July and August.
This will be in the shape of a heart that will grow bigger with each donation and will be proudly on show in the reception area of our Sedgley Centre to serve as a permanent reminder of the support from you, our local community.
