Activities

At Beacon we run a wide range of activities for people living with sight loss, from groups trips out to arts, sports, lifestyle and learning activities at our day centre.

Our ActivEyes programme provides an inclusive and varied timetable of regular leisure and social activities open to all with sight loss. Activities include walks, cooking sessions, theatre and cinema visits, goalball, golf and eating out, or for the more adventurous, rowing, rock climbing and cycling.

Our aim is to help you be independent, confident and comfortable in accessing local leisure and entertainment venues, and to feel a valued and active member of your community. Our activities take place across Wolverhampton, Dudley and the Black Country as well as further-a-field for some events.

Where possible we always encourage members to be as independent as possible, however during all sessions ActivEyes staff and volunteers will be on hand to help you if you need extra support.

If you want more information about Activeyes or would like to get involved, please call Hayley Millard or Tim Jukes on 01902 880 111 email hmillard@beaconvision.org/ or tjukes@beaconvision.org

You can learn new skills or improve on what you can already do at our hugely popular arts and pottery sessions run through our independent living centre.

You can come along for the day and take part in a varied range of activities including pottery, art, knitting and others on request.

While with us, if you wish you can also try some of our other sessions targeted at health and well-being or life skills.

Would you like to improve your confidence and gain more independence in your own home?

We run regular life skills sessions at our independent living centre. The sessions include cookery classes in our specialist kitchen where we teach you everything from basic skills through to the more advanced. Each class is a day long and while you are at our independent living centre you can take advantage of our other activities including arts and pottery classes or work on your health and well-being in our tailored gym.
