Collections/Delivery Retail Driver

Part Time Collections/Delivery Drivers – 18 hours per week
(3 x 6 hour days to include 1 Saturday in 3)

The role involves collecting and delivering furniture and donations; house clearances within the West Midlands.

We are looking for someone who:
• has been in a similar role
• manual handling experience preferred but not essential as training will be provided
• must be able to work with volunteers
• good communication skills and professional approach
• is self-motivated, driven and organised,
• able to plan appropriate routes, to deliver the most efficient and effective journey time.

All successful candidates will be required to undertake a DBS check, and must have a Full & Current Driving Licence Including D1 Category or PCV.

Business & Contracts Manager
Full time – 37.5 hours per week

£33,500

As a member of the senior team you will play a key role in the strategic development of Beacon’s health & welling services with specific focus towards developing our locality based services to support our business priorities. Your major areas of operation will be leading an established Domiciliary and ExtraCare service, day services and locality based services.

You will take the lead to ensure services are developed and delivered to the vision and values of the charity and opportunities are presented in light of the charity’s Ambition 2025 strategy and direction – to enhance and expand our reach to meet the ever growing demand for sight loss support.

You will lead on the development of our health & wellbeing services within our operating geography. This will include, community based services, alongside our established in-house support service.  You will manage Beacon’s strategic relationships with key commissioning providers to develop high quality services, local support and funding.

The post holder will be expected to possess:

  • Experience of developing and implementing development plans including new income streams.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with key commissioning providers to develop high quality services.
  • Experience of delivering services which have been commissioned by the NHS, Local Authority or self-funded through PIP.
  • Experience of financial management and budget control.
  • A relevant management qualification or evidence of continuing professional development, or educated to degree standard or equivalent.
  • Experience, knowledge or understanding of care services, and keeping up to date with best practice and trends to ensure compliance with legislation as well as knowledge of the Care Act 2014.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office and bespoke IT systems in order to monitor and evaluate delivery and operation of the service to establish trends.
  • Possession of a valid driving licence, and access to your own transport as you will be required to travel.

Business Administrator Assistant

Working in the Operations Directorate, you will be responsible for administrating and supporting the Directorate to enhance and expand our reach to meet the ever growing demand for sight loss support. As a member of the Administration team you will provide a comprehensive and responsive range of high quality and efficient administrative and clerical support to the Domiciliary, ExtraCare and Health & Wellbeing teams.

You will be required to be proficient in using appropriate software packages. This will include recording and updating records held on bespoke IT systems and other databases relating to care and health & wellbeing services.

The post holder will be expected to use discretion, sensitivity and deal with information in a confidential and professional manner.

Do you have:

  • Previous demonstrable experience in an administrative role?
  • An NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification and/or experience in business administration or NVQ Level 4 or Certificate of Higher Education in administration/business management?
  • Experience of producing written reports and spreadsheets, and developing databases?
  • Experience of communicating with all levels of staff and the public?
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills?
  • Ability to work in a team, as well as on your own initiative?

Community & Events Fundraiser – Beacon Centre, Sedgley

Beacon was established in 1875 with its charitable aim “To promote the relief of visually impaired persons”. For almost 150 years we have supported thousands of visually impaired people and their families adapt to sight loss and live as independently as practicable within their homes and communities.

As part of our Ambition 2025 strategy we are embarked upon a substantial transformation of our services, with significant opportunities to enhance and expand our reach to meet the ever-growing demand for sight loss support.

Our operational services include site-based support at Sedgley and Stourbridge, including independent life skills, IT & digital device training, low vision assessments and support, coupled across the Black Country and Staffordshire with supported employment programmes, community based activity and sports initiatives, and mobile sight loss advice.

Our current innovations include the development of digital design and fabrication facilities to provide up to date skills and training for visually impaired, collaborations with Universities and technology developers on Virtual Reality devices and accessible connected autonomous vehicles and a future network of dispersed service provision.

Our valued Trustees meet quarterly as a Board and attend subcommittee meetings in Finance & General Purposes, Charity Operations and Enterprises, along with annual strategic development meetings.

We are particularly keen to hear from people with experience in the sight loss field, have skills in finance, legal or marketing or have worked in the charitable sector. If you have senior management experience, are used to engaging in high level debate and are able to contribute to making informed decisions.

We are looking for a Volunteer Catering Assistant to:

  • Prepare and serve snacks, meals and refreshments.
  • Handle small amounts of money, using a till system.
  • Participate in keeping all areas of the kitchen and table areas clean and tidy.
  • Clear tables after use.
  • Assist staff with additional duties at busiest times of the day.
  • Assist staff members during the set up of conferencing events, as required.
