The 91st JW Hunt Cup Final is to be held at Molineux on May 23rd and will once again be raising money in aid of the Black Country’s leading sight loss charity, The Beacon Centre.

The historic competition was first established in 1926 and since then has always supported the Beacon Centre raising more than £330,000 to help the charity support those living with sight loss.

This year’s final will be contested by Alvechurch FC and Wednesfield Town FC.

A total of 32 teams have competed in the cup this year from across the Black Country, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

The kick-off is at 7.30pm and members of the public are welcome to attend, tickets are £5 payable on the door.

Beacon Centre chief executive Arwyn Jones said: “The JW Hunt Cup is a fantastic event and one we are immensely proud to be a part of.

“We simply couldn’t do the work we do without the support of this competition and we would like to thank everyone involved. We are all looking forward to the final and I am sure it will be a great evening’s entertainment.”

Fans of the cup can see the silver trophy in the Steve Bull stand at the ground as well as memorabilia from across the years including medals, cups, badges, photos, and even the referee’s whistle from the 1926 final have also been put on show in the stand.

“This is a great event for football fans from across the region and we hope to see as many as possible attending on the night.”
