As we embark on a New Year, I am excited about the challenges and opportunities I face in my new role as CEO at Beacon. I have always worked in the charity sector and I am passionate about empowering people to take action and improve themselves and their communities. By bringing this passion and enthusiasm to Beacon I want to ensure people living with sight loss capitalise on opportunities available and help break down barriers – both real and perceived.

Taking on a new role is always challenging, especially as this is a Chief Executive position, and does not come without any trepidation. Three weeks in and any doubts or concerns have evaporated. I am lucky to have taken over from Arwyn Jones, who has positioned we take advantage of many exciting opportunities out there. His generosity in his final weeks, sharing his experience and information, means I am confident I have the ground knowledge to undertake the role and take Beacon forward into the future.

It has not only been Arwyn that has made the transition smooth. I firmly believe that an organisation’s team, staff, volunteers, trustees, customers and partners are its life blood. I am privileged to have a fantastic team who are committed to their roles and the organisation. I can’t wait to discover what we can achieve together and look forward to 2019 and beyond.
