Lesley is a participant on the BBO Bridges project which helps those living with sight loss and other disabilities realise their full potential and support them through their journey – whatever their aims.

Lesley has been on the project since February and has grown in confidence, being on the programme has helped her to open up and talk to others. Living with total sight loss has made her feel lonely and at times very low but having individuals to talk to has had a positive impact on her wellbeing. Her newfound optimism has allowed her to take on new challenges.

Currently Lesley is learning new I.T skills which has enabled her to use her phone – giving her the independence she needs. Having learnt how to use her phone so quickly she is now moving on to using a keyboard.

Lesley adds: “In the short time that I have been on the programme I feel as if I have learnt so much and want to keep on learning. It has helped me grow as an individual and taught me to not let me health condition or sight loss become a barrier.”

Lesley is looking forward to learning even more new skills and is enjoying her time speaking to different people whilst constantly growing. The safety aspect of using her phone has given her the know-how to contact someone if ever in an emergency.

Lesley explains: “Thank you for giving me a boost and newfound optimism.”
