Urgent Appeal

We understand that we are all facing challenges in these uncertain times, but the vulnerable people who rely on us to support them are feeling this more than ever.

To the Beacon family…..

None of us know what will happen over the coming months, but we know that people living with sight loss in our community will always need our support.

Without us, they will be completely on their own, with the risk of severe loneliness and no-one to turn to. Many of them are over 70 and are afraid we won’t be able to help them in the future. We’ve already had to make the difficult decision to suspend some of our services leaving the most vulnerable people in our communities at risk.

But we need your support more than ever to keep supporting people living with sight loss in your local communities. Please help us today.

In the face of a situation that is changing daily, we are doing everything we can to ensure we are there caring for the people who need us most, whether it be through our Talking Newspaper service that is a lifeline for some or being a friendly ear on the telephone that they rely on to support their independence.

Our staff and volunteers are as wonderful as ever and we are so grateful for them. We are also being called on by local organisations who need our help to support us vulnerable people, which we are doing all we can to respond to.

But we are being impacted by this severely. We are cancelling fundraising events and other activities, which we rely on to help us raise the funds we need to continue supporting people with sight loss.

The changes we have been rightly making to respond to this situation mean we already losing around £25,000 a week which is income we just cannot afford to lose and keep going.

Now more than ever we need to come together as a community to help those who need us most.
