Wolverhampton North East MP Pat McFadden visited Beacons HQ on Wolverhampton Road East recently to see the most current developments and meet Beacons new CEO Lisa Cowley. Pat was given a guided tour of Beacon and shown the health and wellbeing centre, the art crafts room, the Fab Lab and lots more. Lisa Cowley explained in detail all the vital work done at Beacon and introduced the MP to some of the service users which the charity supports.

Pat McFadden said: “I am familiar with all the vital work Beacon does across our community. This recent visit was very welcome and gave me a chance to see the latest developments. I am always impressed when I visit Beacon, but I was particular taken back by the new Fab Lab which helps so many people living with sight loss learn new skills within digital technology.”

The Fab Labs aims to help those living with sight loss to learn state of the art digital and design skills which may even help some find employment as well as generating income from sales of products manufactured to support the charity.

Lisa Cowley, Beacon CEO, added: “Pat has always had a special interest in the work of Beacon and it’s good to give him an update on all our key work. This visit once again shows Pat, and other local MPs, the vital role regional charities like us play.

“The Fab Lab was of particular interest to Pat and he was able to witness first-hand the latest technology Beacon has to offer. We have lots of exciting ideas for the future and look forward to seeing and working with Pat again.”
